Tribute to Dave by Lynne Jaseph I have many wonderful memories of the years I knew Dave... however two stand out stand out in particular that I would like to share with you today. We went together on a family cruise of the Alaskan Inside Passage in May of 2000. On that trip, DaveÕs adventuresome spirit was extremely evident in that he and Corey took about every shore excursion. We shared a seaplane tour with Corey and Dave to the Misty Fjord National Monument which was our very favorite tour of the weekÕs cruise. I will never forget how Dave turned around and looked at me as the pilot was playing ÒAmazing GraceÓ on our headphones. We were flying through unbelievably spectacular sheer granite cliffs and fjords and the look on DaveÕs face said it all. It was as if we both knew we were seeing GodÕs handiwork and were deeply touched. It was definitive moment where we both saw the face of God. I will never forget it. A year later, we went up to Boulder Creek to spend MotherÕs Day with Corey and Dave. And was that ever a memorable MotherÕs Day. Dave took us up in the ÒheloÓ for a beautiful low flying ride along the Santa Cruz coast. We saw whales breaching and the water lapping up to the point where I felt we could touch it. Dave topped off my day by playing some of the same music weÕd heard in Alaska. Dave said to me, ÒI was wondering when youÕd notice. Dave Zampino was truly one of a kind. He certainly lived life to the fullest and did it all, so to speak! I will miss him so much and the only way I can cope with the loss of him is that he died doing something he loved. But his most precious love was our Corey and they will forever be soul mates. Lynne Jaseph |
